MY YOUTUBE LAUNCH IS HERE

THERE ARE 1 BILLION HOURS OF YOUTUBE WATCHED EVERY DAY. EVERY MINUTE 500 HOURS ARE UPLOADED. YOUTUBE HAS OVER 2 BILLION USERS. THERE ARE 254 MILLION YOGA VIDEOS ON YOUTUBE. AND I HAVE DECIDED TO ADD 1 EXTRA PERSON TO THIS INSANE VIDEO PLATFORM! YOGA WITH MEEGAN DOES YOUTUBE!

HERE'S THE TEA

What am I thinking?

I’m not Zoella, I’m not Adrienne, I’m not Capar Lee. I am a small town girl, who teaches yoga and runs a yoga studio in Margate.

You’re probably thinking, and so am I, what the heck is she thinking starting a YouTube channel?

BUT it’s happening…and I’ll tell you why. 

WHY YOUTUBE?

During lockdown I knew I wanted to learn about tech and try to get my head around the internet, editing and anything to do with technology. It has always perplexed and angered me and I wanted to change the relationship I had with it. This wasn’t easy guys. I am still learning but I’ve made some pretty big steps.

My lockdown included different online courses, webinars and signed up to trainings. One of the webinars I watched was with a woman called Trena Little. Trena is a Youtube wizard and she made something strikingly clear to me.

Instagram isn’t searchable content. Facebook isn’t searchable content.

YouTube is searchable content.

What am I banging on about? 

Well when you put up a really good instagram post that you’ve worked on for ages, for instance teaching someone about how to do a downward dog safely. After those first few moments of the post going live it pretty much disappears. Yes someone may come across it through a hashtag search but you’ll be competing with all the other #yogaeverydamnday posts out there. 

YouTube is searchable. You will be competing with others who might be doing something similar but there’s a much higher chance that a viewer will come across your video and learn something from you.

It is another outlet for me to reach people and teach them why and what I love about yoga. I want to help the feel empowered, inspired and connected through yoga!

YOGA ON YOUTUBE

Yep. There’s a lot of yoga videos on YouTube. But there’s a lot of yoga teachers in real life too!

Somehow every yoga teacher connects with a different community and people. Some yoga teachers I’ve loved and some I haven’t. This will be the same for YouTube too. 

I’ve always wanted to teach in a way that’s accessible, modern, a bit silly and body first driven. Ya’ll know I love me my anatomy! What I want my videos on YouTube to do is empower people to feel more in control of their bodies and their practice once they leave the yoga class too.

WHAT YOU'RE GOING TO GET

Obviously you’re going to get yoga guys! Lots of different classes, flows, slow and challenging but you’re also going to get posture break downs, anatomy tidbits, meditations ,yoga nidra and videos that go along with my blogs!

My YouTube channel will be like a tasty starter to my yoga membership. I want you to be able to start your practice for free and enjoy learning more about yoga and yourself. 

My channel will be an extension of me. It’s gonna be a real love project for me. I’ll be filming, editing, adding music and planning all of the videos myself. 

I hope you will subscribe to my channel and enjoy the videos. Let me know in the comments what videos you love, any questions you have and any areas you want to work on! I want this channel to be a tool for you to use to help you feel inspired by your practice, empowered in your body and connected to a community.
